Position Profile:

The Anixter Legal teamis seeking a Contract Managerwith 3-5 years of demonstrated contract review and negotiation experiencefor its Glenview, IL global headquarters. The position will beresponsible for the reviewing, editing, negotiating, and managing the contract lifecycle of customer contract documents while minimizing risks, protecting contractual posture, and adhering to company policy. The Contract Manager must be able to identify risks, interpret contract language andadvise internal stakeholders of risks, rights and obligations that require a decision pursuant to company policy.

Essential/Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of demonstrated customer facing contract review and negotiation experience .

  • Review, edit, negotiate, and manage standard and non-standard contractual documents based on internal processes in order toensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and corporate policies and division procedures, as well asestablish and maintain good business relationships with commercial customers. Types of contracts may include, but are not limited to, master sales agreements, reseller agreements, service agreements, NDAs, teaming agreements, amendments, credit applications, consignment agreements, MOUs, LOIs, P.O. T&Cs, federal, state and local government agreements, and RFPs, RFQs,proposals, bids and other contractual instruments.

  • Coordinate with internal attorneys on complex contract matters that may have legal significance(such as, identifying special provisions, or non-standard or potentially high risk terms and conditions).

  • Liaise with internal subject matter experts in Finance, Sales, Sales Ops, Credit, Insurance, Export Control, and other departments regarding contractual rights and obligations requiring their feedback and/or approval.

  • Take or coordinate necessary actions to respond to any contractual issues within a reasonable time frame.

  • Assist internal stakeholders as they manage on-going customer relationships.

  • Create written communication that is properly structured and provides clear, concise messages that draw well supported conclusions.

  • Operate in accordance with company policies and comply with company business ethics practices.

  • Manage and facilitate various aspects of the contract process, including the contracts management application and other business applications.

  • Work on special projects as needed.


  • Excellent contract drafting and legal writing.Knowledge of negotiation tactics.

  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, general business, and legalterms and usage.

  • Experience reviewing customer facing contract documents.

  • Knowledge of the UCC and US contract laws.

  • Superior Englishcommunicationskills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong project management skills. Ability to manage multiple work assignments and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must interact effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Contract Lifecycle Management experience is a plus.

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree.

  • Paralegal certificate or other professional certification is a plus.
