Job Description


We currently have multiple opportunities for highly motivated team players as a Warehouse Associate at our Memphis distribution center. In this role, you will start in our Returns Department. In the Returns Department, you will be responsible for unloading trucks, unpacking material, identifying products, labeling products and putting products away in our inventory.

Additionally, you will be expected to cross train in other departments to help grow your career and ensure our customers orders are processed on time. You can expect to work in several departments per shift to help expedite customer orders.

Shifts will be 7am – 4pm, 8am – 5pm or 9am – 6pm. Pay for these positions will be $12.75/hr.

In addition to the description above, this role will be responsible for:

  • High quality, best in class, wire and cable processing;

  • Operating machinery to process wire and cable, including computers and scan guns;

  • Maintaining inventory and service levels to meet all necessary customer requirements and delivery deadlines;

  • Stock replenishment and cycle counting;

  • Use barcode scanner to scan and signal empty bins;

  • Handle material shortage requests;

  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision;

  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers;

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments; and

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures .

  • This is not an exhaustive list of duties. Employees can reasonably expect to learn multiple functions within the warehouse in order to effectively process orders for our customers.

What it will take to be successful in this role(Qualifications)

  • At least 6 months prior work experience.

  • Stable work history. We’re looking for good people who want to stick around for a while and be part of our Anixter family.

  • Must have determination, sense of urgency, strong customer focus, willingness to work hard.

  • Although preferred, warehouse experience not required. We’re willing to train you if you are genuinely interested in a career with us.

  • You need to be reliable with a good attendance record. Our customers and your coworkers depend on you to be at work each and every day.

  • Demonstrated and prior experience operating forklifts and/or other powered industrial equipment.

  • Demonstrated math, counting, reading and writing skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to lift, bend, reach, push, pull, squat and walk throughout a shift.

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, generally an entire shift(8+ hours per day).

  • Although our warehouses are clean and provide a comfortable work environment, we caution that it is still a warehouse environment. Candidates will require heat tolerance in the summer months and exposure to dust.
