WESCO Supervisor - Accounting in Tlanepantla, Mexico

As a Supervisor - Accounting you will supervise accounting staff in the day to day operations of one or more accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue and asset accounting as well as associated analysis and reporting. You will oversee calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. You will maintain the integrity of accounting records by ensuring that staff complies with organization accounting policies and procedures. You will make day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops operational plans to achieve results and ensures alignment with company goals and objectives.

  • Sets goals for work group, manages execution, and measures results.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to calculate and prepares journal entries and statements, and assists with monthly closing, including preparing accounting reports.

  • Verifies accuracy of data processing for accounting information.

  • Ensures general ledger accounts are understood, clean, and reconciled monthly.

  • Researches and explains general ledger account variances to trend, budget, and prior year.

  • Manages day-to-day operation of team responsible for assigned accounting function, including assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work.

  • Documents procedures and identifies and implements process improvements.

  • Oversees applicable accounting system including system enhancements and changes.

  • Resolves account discrepancies.

  • Ensures supporting tasks are completed accurately, consistently, and on time.

  • Selects, manages, evaluates, and develops staff. Challenges employees, builds an effective teams, develops organizational capacity, and provides staff with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.

  • Ensures policies and procedures comply with Sarbanes Oxley legislation, including coordinating internal and external audit requests, and ensuring established policies and procedures are followed.

  • Prepares monthly reconciliations and summary reports.

  • Answers verbal and written inquiries, including resolving complaints.

  • Assists with and coordinates special accounting projects.

Qualifications:

  • Associates’ Degree in Accounting or related field required; Bachelors’ Degreepreferred.

  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred of accounting experience.

  • 2 years of supervisoryexperience is preferred.

  • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes, and regulations.

  • Accounting theory, and application of principles and practices.

  • Principles and practices of financial record keeping and reporting.

  • Operate office equipment including computers and adding machines.

  • Prepares accurate and complete financial reports.

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships.

  • Organizes work for timely completion.

  • Researches and analyzes varieties information.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
